Laps / Splits

Laps / Splits break a GPS-based activity into smaller distance-based sections, so you can compare how your performance changed during the route.

You can use laps to review your pace, speed, elevation, calories, hydration, and route segment for each part of the activity.

Note: Laps are available for GPS-based activities that are long enough to be split into at least one supported lap distance.

Laps tab

The Laps tab is available from the Activity Details screen for supported GPS activities (long enough to be split into at least one supported lap distance).

Use the distance selector to choose the lap size. VMFit supports predefined distance presets such as 500 m, 1 km, 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km. When using imperial units, matching mile-based presets are shown instead.

Each lap row shows:

Partial laps

If the activity distance does not end exactly on a lap boundary, VMFit shows the remaining distance as a partial final lap.

Very small remaining distances may be included in the previous lap instead of shown as a separate partial lap. This avoids displaying tiny final laps caused by GPS precision, such as only a few meters after the last full lap.

Lap Time and Time

The Laps tab can show either Lap Time or Time:

For example, if the third 1 km lap took 6 minutes and ended at 18 minutes of moving time, Lap Time shows 06:00 and Time shows 18:00.

Fastest and slowest laps

VMFit highlights the fastest and slowest full laps.

Partial laps are shown for completeness, but they are not used when determining the fastest or slowest lap because they cover a shorter distance.

Lap Details screen

Tap a lap to open the Lap Details screen.

The Lap Details screen shows a focused breakdown of the selected lap, including:

The selected lap is also highlighted on the route map, so you can see where that lap happened during the activity.

You can switch between the laps in the lap details screen using the arrows next to the lap distance header.

Graphs

The Graphs tab shows lap-specific charts, such as elevation and speed, based only on the selected lap segment.

This helps you see how elevation or speed changed inside a single lap instead of across the whole activity.

Lap Map screen

Tap the map on the Lap Details screen to open a larger interactive map.

The Lap Map screen shows:

Use this screen when you want to inspect exactly where a lap started, ended, or changed pace.
